What’s New in LexDAO
LexEd
The LexEd team has been hard at work preparing “Trapped in Charlotte’s Web3: A Primer on Crypto Real-World Uses of Smart Contracts and Blockchain.” On January 28, LexDAO Guild Members will be giving their first presentation for attorneys wanting to learn more about the legal issues in the blockchain and web3 space. The presentation will cover the basics of blockchain and smart contracts, multisig wallets, smart escrow contracts, and managing real property on the blockchain.
The presentation sets up LexDAO and the LexEd team for future opportunities to educate attorneys on the sector’s most pressing legal issues, and will help draw attention to LexDAO and its mission.
Twitter Spaces
LexDAO hosted our first Twitter Spaces chat, which, going forward, will take place every other week on Thursdays at 5pm EST. These spaces will discuss current events around the law, blockchain, and current events. Omen, mikewavsz, and taxpanda, were the panelists for this first conversation, and they discussed the aftermath of constitutionDAO.
WY DAO Bill Hackathon
LexDAO organized a hackathon to provide feedback on proposed amendments to the Wyoming DAO LLC Supplement. The team outlined four proposed amendments to address concerns including technology neutrality for regulatory equivalence, human readable governance, operations security, and information privacy (public addresses) for smart contracts. The submission went to the Wyoming Select Committee on Blockchain, Financial Technology and Digital Innovation Technology. Select Committee Member Matthew Kaufman wrote that he appreciated the submission and that LexDAO “should stay after it because . . . the thoughts are really good.” ⚡⚡ View the full submission here with followup RegTech discussion (issues #11-13).
Kali
Kali is a software tool that will act as a legal DAO deployer working in conjunction with lawyers and engineers from LexDAO. Kali also allows users to select the entity type they want for their DAOs (social, investment club, or service company) and choose either a Ricardian LLC or uploading their own forms. This week, Kali hit a major milestone and is available for alpha-testing on the Rinkeby Test Network. The UI is still being worked on, but you can play around with it at: test.kalidao.xyz.
