LexDAO June 2022 Recap
It just keeps going. I stepped out to backpack the High Sierra Trail and came back to frozen Celsius funds, the debacle that is 3AC, rumors surrounding BlockFi, and a perpetually falling TradFi market. For those of you who went to NFT NYC, please send your pictures of Doop Snogg.
Here are some pictures from the Sierra’s for those of you who haven’t been outside in a bit.
What’s New in LexDAO
DAO Planet
LexDAO members gathered in New York last week for NFT NYC and DAO Planet! Several members spoke at DAO Planet.
Jared spoke on why DAOs need operating systems, using LexDAO as a case study. You can check out our Operating System here and can read about how LexDAO is a platform here.
Favian spoke on DAOs and legal entities and wore an incredible hat.
Jordan Teague, George Campbell, and Mark Swiderski of the Antifirm (but also of LexDAO) spoke about legal best practices for DAOs.
LexDAO Clinic
The Clinic was first pitched as a grant idea during last quarter's Gitcoin round 13. In just a single quarter, the Clinic has become an active revenue generating clinic with over 70 members in our server. Our clients include GitcoinDAO, Lobby3, PeaceDAO, Help UA Now, Active Inference Labs, and Web3 Music Coalition. We're integrated with KaliDAO, which means LexDAO provides a maximally-automated legally wrapped DAO creation service from start to finish. The Clinic also offers research commission and is working on an EIP (Ethereum EVM standards) taxonomy. More exciting announcements on the horizon.
Gitcoin
Gitcoin grants takes place every quarter. Though we've applied for Gitcoin grants in previous quarters, this quarter for GR14 we decided to prioritize and consolidate our efforts into http://lexdaogrant.us/. We're pleased to report that our decision paid off, far surpassing expectations as over 170 unique contributors maxed out the matching pool available to us! We're still waiting on the actual totals, but Gitcoin estimates that LexDAO will receive over $50,000 in donations from Gitcoin this quarter!! For bonus homework, check out this article's Appendix to learn more about Gitcoin's quadratic matching system. Also a huge thanks to @bestape#3069 for leading the charge.
Web3 Music “W3M” Coalition
Alongside the Clinic, W3M Coalition was first pitched as a grant idea during last quarter's Gitcoin round 13. Since then, we’ve sent a "c-level" delegation of multiple Web3 music companies to the important traditional industry Music Biz Conference in Nashville. We also summoned a KaliDAO using a TUNA legal wrapper, which includes Web3 and traditional industry leaders as our genesis multisig members. Finally, we gave a legal engineer technical presentation about NFTs to DDEX's plenary in Miami. This was a great success and DDEX wants to continue to work with us to plug their system -- used by all the majors -- into EVM free-markets. More about the Coalition at http://grant.web3coalition.xyz/.

The long awaited vote for Constitution v2.0 is live as I write this, and currently has unanimous support from all voters. You can check out the Constitution here. We think it’s pretty good. Thank you to @Tertius for taking the lead on this along with @JungleBoy.

The leadership succession vote is also live as this Newsletter is being written. A new Operator and three new members of the Operating Committee will be installed.
